Antor Odu Ndep
Antor Odu Ndep graduated from the University of Calabar in Nigeria with a B.Sc. in Physiology. She went on to become an Anatomy/Physiology instructor at a health professions training institution before relocating to the United States in 1997. Ms. Ndep earned her MPH in Maternal and Child Health in 2000. Upon graduation with her MPH, Antor worked at the Tulane Xavier National Center of Excellence in Women’s Health (TUXCOE) as a program coordinator for Healthy Tales; a non-traditional narrative story-based health education program she developed with supervision by her mentor Dr. Jeanette Magnus.
In 2003 Antor became the first Health Educator of TUXCOE and the Mary Amelia Douglas-Whited Community Women’s Health Education Center (MAC). She was also a student preceptor as well as the Community Outreach Coordinator.
Antor is a doctoral candidate at the Department of Community Health Sciences, Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. Her interests include community health education, cultural competency in all aspects of public health education, programming and services and designing health education materials for low-literate populations. Her current research topic is the Perceived Stress and Coping Self-Efficacy of a Sample of New Orleans Population affected by Hurricane Katrina.
Antor is currently the Executive Director of Common Ground Health Clinic, a free community clinic that was formed by community activists in collaboration with out-of-state volunteers (Street Medics and other Community Organizers) in September 2005, right after Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans.
