that provides free quality health care for the greater New Orleans community,
and develops and provides programs to address community health care

Credentialing Extended to Common Ground Health Professionals

The Louisiana Dept. of Health and Hospitals certified the Common Ground Health Clinic. Out of state health professionals (MDs,RNs & NPs) can be credentialed to volunteer with us. Please announce this to any potential out of state health professional who might want to volunteer with us. Professionals can get credentialed for 60 days at a time. Unfortunately, the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners which oversees MDs and PAs has recently refused credentialing to out of state PAs. We are working to change that.

Here is the latest Credentialing information for out
of state professionals from the Louisiana Dept. of Health and
Hospitals.
Who: Any health care professional (RN, MD,
NP, RPH, DDN) with an out-of-state license, unlicensed in Louisiana.
Terms: Health care professionals with licenses
(in home state) in good standing who are providing care free
of charge on a volunteer basis.
Period: 60 consecutive days from date of entry,
with possibility of additional 60 days which requires re-application.
Expiration Date: No expiration date at present.
Forms: All licensed medical volunteers must
complete the DHH Volunteer Registration form, Louisiana
Volunteer Services Agreement. Physicians and others
(see www.lsbme.org
if you aren't sure who is licensed by the medical board) must
also complete the medical board Louisiana
Temporary Permit Application. There is no special
form for any other provider, such as nurses, social workers,
dentists, etc.

You will not need to present yourself at the professional board,
or the DHH unless there are questions about your application.
