Job position offered: Family Nurse Practitioner, Common Ground Health Clinic, New Orleans, Louisiana

The Common Ground Health Clinic is looking for a motivated Nurse Practitioner to diagnose and manage illnesses in a primary care setting. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an appreciation of CGHC’s commitment to primary care and be willing to work with a dynamic and diverse group of staff and volunteers.
The Nurse Practitioner will be a member of the Clinical Working Group and will be responsible directly to the Medical Director and the Executive Director. About Us:
The Common Ground Health Clinic is a free, integrative health clinic established after Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, Louisiana. Our mission is to provide quality, client centered primary healthcare to uninsured, underinsured and in need folks in the New Orleans Community while developing a model of a community controlled healthcare organization. We are currently in our second year of existence and have seen over 15,000 patients. Our services include lab work, bi-lingual services, a Latino Health Outreach Project, acupuncture, herbalism, health education, and a patient assistance program. We have built a basic network of donors, funders, volunteers and supporters, and established relationships with numerous other public health, medical, and grassroots organizations. Currently we are focused on fortifying these local and national networks in order to guarantee the long-term sustainability of the clinic and to make Common Ground a truly anti-racist organization.

Responsibilities:
• Diagnose and manage acute and episodic health problems
• Prescribe appropriate medications and ongoing therapy
• Assist with identification of health needs within the community
• Consult with the supervising MD
• Work with clinical staff to develop classes for community focused on lifestyle modifications
• Participate in clinical oversite, QA, policy and logistic projects

Qualifications:
• Active license in State of Louisiana
• National Certification
• Minimum of four years experience in primary care setting
• Integrity, a strong work ethic and a demonstrated commitment to the mission and vision of the Common Ground Health Clinic
• Willingness to participate in a People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond “Undoing Racism” Workshop
